Carry honor and respect with you. E-mail
To all the walkers:
The teenager in me is stomping her foot and sulking in her room since she can't join you,
the bird in me is still knawing at the rope that is tying me down but the mother in me knows
it is not my time to fly. So all you eagles and hawks out there will have to soar.
To all the young people who are walking or joining at anytime:
Please remember to carry honor and respect with you.Respect yourselves and honor each other. I know young people will be young people and even old people will be young people. That is no doubt the way it should be.Please be safe and be helpers to all.
Listen to your elders. Ignore any ignorance that may surround you and just keep walking.
Why would an eagle bother with a fly.
In my heart I am holding each and every one of you up to grandfather sun and asking that
he bless each step you take.

sincerely,

Andrea,

Thank you so much for your pearls of wisdom. I will carry them with me during the walk (I get to participate in the first week of it!) and for the rest of my life. smilies/cheesy.gif

i know how you feel as i am having to wait. I live in Mississippi right now, but the good news is i am joining the walk in oklahoma. My daughter is still in school and my spouse is going to tough it out till i get to Mississippi on the walk. My daughter will be out of school when we get there. She is so excited as i have always taught her to be proud of her race and always help indians no matter where they are. I try to take her to everything that has to do with ndn's. she always ask if she has to walk all the way. I tell her if she gets tired i will carry her but we will make it together, then she'll tell me no i will carry you. (didnt tell her about the bus)lol.. but just wanted you to know that us horses are coming too.. you friend LEADHORSE of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma......... ps some of my friends from the Mississippi Band of Choctaws are joining also i believe..
tomorrow I will walk my own way

Dear Leadhorse,
I am glad to hear that you are joining the walk. So are you walking
from Oklahoma to Mississippi? It looks like I might just be dreaming of walking unless I can change a few hearts around here. I used to be good
at that kind of thing, inspiring others I mean. I guess it has just been
too important to me.No one around me can relate to how single minded
I have become. Maybe I have finally gone off my rocker. All I know is
someone somewhere wanted me to join this walk.To those who are walking
here is a song to get you through the rough spots.

Carry me when I am tired
Carry me when I have to far to go
And if you carry me today
Tomorrow I will walk on my own
Won't you lift me up
Though I know your arms are weary
Lift me up
I know you can be strong
Lift me up today
tomorrow I will walk my own way.

A gospel song I wrote thinking about how my daughter always used to ask to be carried when she was little.I sing it now when I hit rough patches. It sounds better then it reads. I hope anyway lol.
I am glad to hear there will be you horses. The more horses the better as far as I am concerned.
